Cubby Fall Release

NEW YORK, NEW YORK — September 2, 2026 — Cubby, the AI-native operating platform for self-storage, today announced its Fall Release: the largest product update in the company's history, and one built around a single idea — that technology should fit the operation, not the other way around.

Every storage operation has its quirks. Different outreach sequences for collections and late fees in different states. Unique reporting for particular investors. Shifting bonus plans that address the business priorities of the day. . Most facility management software has no room for any of it, so operators end up reshaping their business around the tool.

The Fall ‘26 Release is Cubby's answer.

The Cubby Connector — your questions. Connect Cubby to Claude or ChatGPT and ask about occupancy, rents, delinquency, or payments the way you'd ask a colleague. Because Cubby keeps a row for every unit for every day going back to the day each facility joined the platform, the Connector answers questions no standing report can: how occupancy moved over the last year, what a pricing change actually did to a unit type, how long units of a given size sit empty before they rent..

Canvas — your software. Describe the screen your team has always wanted and get a working page built into Cubby, published to your organization, and pinnable as anyone's home page. Not a static export — it pulls fresh numbers every time someone opens it.

Workflows — your process. A builder for the sequences operators already run by hand. Pick a trigger, narrow it with conditions, chain the actions Cubby takes on its own: send a payment reminder the moment a tenant goes overdue, assign a unit walkthrough the day after a move-out, text now and email a day later. Every workflow has a Runs tab with live counters — in progress, failed, terminated, completed — and a row per run showing which step it's on and what's next. An operator can terminate a single run without unpublishing the workflow for everyone else.

An upgraded  Operator API — your stack. Everything above, available to an operator's own systems: their website, their reporting stack, their accounting, or custom applications their developer is building.

Canvas unlocks customization directly within Cubby. The upgraded Operator API unlocks customization outside the platform And it’s all built on the same AI-ready foundation, so consistency and performance are built-in.

"Storage operators want AI driven business outcomes out of the box,'" said Matt Engfer, CEO of Cubby, "But they want flexibility to go beyond what’s handed to them so they can deliver what differentiates them. This release is a great example of making those things a reality. Operators have incredible ideas about how they want to show up in the market . So instead of trying to deliver a rigid system that accounted for each unique operating model, we gave them an AI-native platform to shape the business they’ve always envisioned."

The release contains over 30 individual features that allows an operator to run their business their way. Cubby's AI phone agent gained a Sales skill that walks a caller to a finished rental — proration, discounts, coverage requirements, first-of-month billing — and can place reservations, charge a saved card mid-call, and text lease documents or signing links on request. Operators can now train the agent on how they want to show up in the market or equip it with facility-specific knowledge in plain English. A workflow can allow delinquency exemptions to pause any combination of late fees, overlocks, lien eligibility, and collections messages for a single tenant, with a reason attached. Even multiple lease configurations per facility allow storage, parking, and commercial at a single property to run different fees, deposits, delinquency schedules, and paperwork, applied automatically at the time of rental.
